(Bonus points if you know the title reference!) Surely you have all been hearing about those crazy power outages in the DC area?  Well, we were definitely affected.  In fact, we had three separate occasions of no power, and it was not fun, especially when temperatures have been in the 100s.  Mostly I was annoyed because with out power, I don’t have internet, computers, tv or photoshop, so my productivity in life comes to a crashing halt. But we lived through it, and you can bet we are stocked up on bottled water, batteries and canned food now (though, we had most of those items before)!

On top of power interruptions, we have been insanely busy doing lots of other fun things. In addition to all my design work, we have been doing things like…

I had a few things I wanted to share today.

First, happy birthday to Harry Potter yesterday!  Growing up, this day was probably as exciting as my own birthday.  My older brother Drew and I would find fun ways to celebrate, be it by reading our favorite parts of the books or listening to the movie soundtracks while sketching pictures of Harry, Ron, and Hermione. If you find that to be strange, don’t even ask about what I would do on book or movie release nights… That’s for another post.

Anyway, I hadn’t draw Harry Potter in ever so long, and with out even realizing it, I picked his very birthday to draw him!
Just for fun, I threw it up next to an old sketch I dug up from 10 years ago, just to see why you should always carry a sketchbook.
There’s some improvement there, I’d like to think.

Recently someone purchased a print of one of my illustrations, and I thought I would get one for myself as well!  I picked up a nice $5 frame at ikea, and it’s now hanging in the loo next to my sink!  I do all these illustrations with the intention of framing them, but often times I get so busy or distracted that I don’t follow through.  It is nice to see my very first framed illustration hanging proudly next to the toilet 🙂
